Your hair turns gray with age although many blame their children, work, lack of sleep and the long working hours. You may notice a couple of gray hairs along the line of your hair that spread rapidly as the years pass.
Now, rather than having a permanent hair dye box or visit the beauty salon, you could try a natural remedy that will help you darken your hair: potato peels!
The starch in potato peels acts as a natural color that helps you cover the gray hair slowly in a matter of weeks or months.
Here’s the recipe:
- five or six potatoes (medium or large)
- a large pot
- a strainer
- a large bowl
- a bottle of shampoo
- moisturizing shampoo and conditioner
- a towel
Remove the peels of five or six large or medium-sized potatoes. Put the potatoes aside and put the shells in a large saucepan. Fill the pot with 1/2 a gallon of water. Boil the water. Leave the shells to boil for 20 to 30 minutes.
Pour the potato shells through a strainer over a large bowl. Save the water and take out the potato shells. Leave that water to cool completely before pouring it into a clean bottle of shampoo.
Wash and condition your hair with moisturizing products. Since the grey hair is drier and more fragile, it is important to nurture your hair to acquire extra moisture. Leave it on your hair for one or two minutes before you rinse it.
Pour the potato peel rinse over your hair. Get out of the shower and put a dry towel over your hair. Later, style your hair as usual.
Repeat the procedure two or three times a week, for several weeks or months, or until you are satisfied with the results!
